WNG-536 DeKalb, 162.550 MHz NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio station WNG-536 serves DeKalb county, from a 100 Watt transmitter in DeKalb, Illinois. The new transmitter is located on a tower provided by Northern Illinois University's Department of Environmental Health and Safety. Continuous 24 hour programming is provided from the National Weather Service Chicago Forecast Office, located southwest of Chicago in Romeoville Illinois. In the map below, the counties shaded in blue are the counties which will tone alarm during severe weather watches and warnings on WNG-536. Specific Area Message Encoder codes are also shown for each county. Tone alarm tests for the DeKalb radio occur each WEDNESDAY at approximately 11 AM.
