Winter Storm Event

Overview:

A major winter storm brought snow to a large portion of the area on Thursday January 31st and during the overnight hours of February 1st. The storm system intensified as it moved to the south and east of the area, bringing periods of heavy snow to east central Missouri and southwest Illinois. Snowfall rates at times approached 2 inches per hour and resulted in rapid accumulations. Snowfall totals ranged from 1 to 3 inches in central Missouri to around 8 inches in the St. Louis Metro area, and up to 10 inches in central Illinois.
