Severe Weather Assessment:
An intense low pressure system over the Central Plains allowed for the influx of warm, moist and unstable air from the Gulf of Mexico to surge northward into the Bi-State Region.

The combination of upper level support and unstable air mass allowed for severe weather to develop. Widespread wind damage, hail and several small tornado touchdowns were reported as a squall line moved across East-Central Missouri into West-Central Illinois.
