...DAMAGE SURVEY INFORMATION FOR THE LATE AFTERNOON OF SATURDAY
MARCH 11, 2006 TORNADO EVENT OVER SOUTHERN PIKE COUNTY
ILLINOIS...

PERSONNEL FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN ST LOUIS
CONDUCTED A DAMAGE ASSESSMENT OVER PARTS OF SOUTHERN PIKE COUNTY IN
WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS.

A TORNADO BRIEFLY TOUCHED DOWN AT APPROXIMATELY 515 PM CST SATURDAY
AFTERNOON 1.5 MILES EAST OF INDEPENDENCE ILLINOIS...4 MILES SOUTH
SOUTHEAST OF PITTSFIELD ILLINOIS.

ONLY MINOR TREE DAMAGE WAS UNCOVERED OVER THIS AREA. THE LENGHT OF
THE TREE DAMAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80 TO 100 YARDS LONG AND 40 YARDS
WIDE. THE DAMAGE INTENSITY WAS RATED F0.

BETWEEN 515 - 520 PM CST A WITNESS OBSERVED THREE SMALLER FUNNELS
ROTATING AROUND A LARGER FUNNEL NORTHEAST OF INDEPENDENCE MOVING
NORTHEAST.

THE FUNNEL MOVED EAST NORTHEAST TO MILTON ILLINOIS AND BRIEFLY
TOUCHED DOWN IN TOWN AROUND 520 PM CST. TWO GARAGE DOORS AND A
AWNING FROM A HOUSE WAS DAMAGED BY THE WEAK TORNADO. A NUMBER OF
LARGE TREE LIMBS WERE ALSO DOWN IN TOWN. ANOTHER WITNESS OBSERVED
TWO FUNNELS NEAR THE TOWN OF MILTON. THE LENGHT OF THE DAMAGE AREA
WAS APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS LONG AND 50 YARDS WIDE. THE DAMAGE WAS
RATED F0.
