...PRELIMINARY DAMAGE SURVEY INFORMATION FOR THE MARCH 12 2006
TORNADIC SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORM ACROSS PIKE COUNTY MISSOURI...

PERSONNEL FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN ST LOUIS HAVE
SURVEYED THE TRACK OF THE TORNADIC SUPERCELL WHICH MOVED ACROSS
CENTRAL PORTIONS OF PIKE COUNTY MISSOURI ON THE EVENING OF MARCH 12.

A GROUND SURVEY REVEALS 3 SEPARATE TORNADOES OCCURRED.  DETAILS ARE
AS FOLLOWS:

THE FIRST TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY ONE QUARTER MILE
SOUTHWEST OF NEW HARTFORD MISSOURI.  THIS TORNADO TRAVELED FOR
APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE...JUST WEST OF TOWN.  MINOR TREE DAMAGE
OCCURED IN THIS AREA...THIS DAMAGE WAS RATED AS F0 INTENSITY.

A SECOND TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE NORTH OF
THE FIRST TORNADO...JUST WEST OF COUNTY ROAD 409.  THIS TORNADO
TRAVELED NORTHEAST AND CROSSED COUNTY ROAD 416...2 MILES WEST OF
HIGHWAY 161.  THIS DAMAGE WAS RATED AS F0 INTENSITY.

MINOR TREE DAMAGE OCCURED ON COUNTY ROAD 412 WHERE IT HIT A FARM 1.5
MILES WEST OF HIGHWAY 161 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30 PM ON MARCH 12. HERE
THE TORNADO DAMAGED A BARN...DESTROYED ONE SILO WHILE PARTIALLY
DESTROYING ANOTHER.  THE TORNADO ALSO DESTROYED A MACHINE SHED...
SENDING DEBRIS OVER 300 YARDS INTO A NEARBY OPEN FIELD. THE DEBRIS
FIELD IN THIS LOCATION WAS APPROXIMATELY 125 YARDS WIDE...AND WAS
RATED AS LOW END F1 INTENSITY.

THE TORNADO THEN CROSSED HIGHWAY 161...CAUSING TREE DAMAGE.  THE
TORNADO LIFTED ALONG COUNTY ROAD 411...APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES EAST
OF HIGHWAY 161.  THE DAMAGE IN THIS AREA WAS RATED AS UPPER END F0
INTENSITY.  TRACK LENGTH FOR THIS TORNADO WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES
LONG.

THE THIRD TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT APPROXIMATELY 6:35 PM ON MARCH 12
ONE MILE SOUTH OF ASHLEY MISSOURI...JUST WEST OF HIGHWAY 161.  A
GRAIN BIN WAS TOSSED ACROSS HIGHWAY 161.  THIS TORNADO CONTINUED
NORTHEAST AND LIFTED JUST EAST OF HIGHWAY Z WHERE TREE DAMAGE
OCCURRED.  THIS TORNADO TRACK WAS 2 MILES LONG AND THE DAMAGE WAS
RATED AS F0 INTENSITY.
