...PRELIMINARY DAMAGE SURVEY RESULTS FOR IRON COUNTY IN MISSOURI...

THE FOLLOWING IS PRELIMINARY DAMAGE ASSESSMENT INFORMATION FOR A
TORNADO THAT OCCURRED WITH SUPERCELL `C` ON FRIDAY...SEPTEMBER 22
OVER IRON COUNTY.

THE TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHDOWN 6.0 MILES WEST OF PILOT KNOB ON
HIGHWAY N AT APPROXIMATELY 5:02 PM CDT. THE TORNADO DESTROYED A
MOBILE HOME ON THE SOUTHEAST SIDE OF HIGHWAY N. SEVERAL LARGE TREES
AND TREE LIMBS WERE ALSO DAMAGED JUST EAST OF THE MOBILE HOME. THE
DAMAGE WIDTH AT THIS LOCATION WAS 40 YARDS WHILE DAMAGE INTENSITY
WAS RATED F1. THE TORNADO THEN TRAVELED EAST TOWARDS SNOW HOLLOW
LAKE OR 2 MILES NORTHWEST OF PILOT KNOB. A RANCH HOME WAS SEVERELY
DAMAGED ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF THE LAKE. THE TORNADO THEN HIT
SEVERAL LARGE TREES ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE LAKE. THE DAMAGE
WIDTH INCREASED TO NEARLY 100 YARDS AT THIS LOCATION WHILE THE
DAMAGE INTENSITY WAS RATED F2. THE DAMAGE TRACK CONTINUED AN
ADDITIONAL 1.0 MILE TO THE EAST.

THE TOTAL DAMAGE TRACK FOR THIS TORNADO WAS APPROXIMATELY 5.0 MILES.

INFORMATION ON ADDITIONAL TORNADO DAMAGE TRACKS SHOULD BE
AVAILABLE ON MONDAY.
