June 18, 2006 Hartford Tornado
On Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2006, a rapidly developing, but rather small thunderstorm produced a brief F1(Fujita Scale) tornado that touched down near Rubicon at about 2:27 PM. The tornado then moved into the western city limits of Hartford by 2:30 PM and the south side of Hartford by 2:36 PM. The F1 rating is a preliminary rating based on an on-site investigation from a National Weather Service employee visiting family in the area. The worst damage was on the south side of Hartford where a motel and elementary school suffered significant roof damage.
