Frost and Freeze Safety Rules

If possible, persons with delicate plants should take measures to protect them from the cold temperatures.

In some situations - delaying the planting of delicate crops, bushes, or flowers until after the average date of the last day of freezing temperatures will increase the chances of survival.
The average date of the last spring day of freezing temepratures in south central and southeast Wisconsin is in early to mid May.
The average date of the first fall day of freezing temperatures in south central and southeast Wisconsin is in early to mid October, but a small area along the Lake Michigan shoreline from Milwaukee to Kenosha usually has their first fall frost after October 20th.
