River Flood Threat Levels are based on the stage, or forecast stage, as compared to a river's flood stage.  The highest threat level is used to denote the greatest threat along any river within the County Warning Area having forecast points.  Always refer to latest river forecast products for specific point forecast information and the complete five (5) day forecast.

Threat Level Descriptions

Extreme

"An Extreme Threat to Life and Property from River Flooding."

Area river(s) well above flood stage.  Major flooding is occurring, or forecast to occur during Day-1 period.    

High

"A High Threat to Life and Property from River Flooding."

Area river(s) above flood stage.  Moderate flooding is occurring, or forecast to occur during Day-1 period.    

Moderate

"A Moderate Threat to Life and Property from River Flooding."

Area river(s) just above flood stage.  Minor flooding is occurring, or forecast to occur during Day-1 period.     

Low

"A Low Threat to Life and Property from River Flooding."

Area river(s) at flood stage.  River is near bankful, or forecast to become near bankful during Day-1 period.    

Very Low
" A Very Low Threat to Life and Property from River Flooding."

Area river(s) at caution stage.  River is swollen, or forecast to become swollen during Day-1 period.      

Non-Threatening
"No Discernable Threat to Life and Property from River Flooding."

Area river(s) well below flood stage.  River flooding is not occurring, nor is forecast to occur during Day-1 period.
