When a winter storm watch is issued, be prepared to take action. Make sure you have an emergency supply kit
that contains a 3-day supply of water, flash lights, extra batteries, candles and matches, non-perishable
foods, blankets, a change of clothes, keys, and money.
When a winter storm warning (or any other winter-weather warning) is issued, be ready to postpone travel and outdoor
activities.
When using alternative heat from a fireplace, wood stove, space heater, etc., use fire safeguards and
properly ventilate. |
| Be Safe In Open Country:
Drive with a full tank of gas, and a cell phone.
Stay with your vehicle if you become stranded. Tie a red or orange flag to your radio antenna. Periodically run
your engine after making sure the exhaust pipe is free of snow and ice.
