Be Safe In Your Home:

Monitor NOAA Weather Radio

When a winter storm watch is issued, be prepared to take action. Make sure you have an emergency supply kit that contains a 3-day supply of water, flash lights, extra batteries, candles and matches, non-perishable foods, blankets, a change of clothes, keys, and money.

When a winter storm warning (or any other winter-weather warning) is issued, be ready to postpone travel and outdoor activities.

When using alternative heat from a fireplace, wood stove, space heater, etc., use fire safeguards and properly ventilate.

Be Safe In Open Country:

Drive with a full tank of gas, and a cell phone.

Stay with your vehicle if you become stranded. Tie a red or orange flag to your radio antenna. Periodically run your engine after making sure the exhaust pipe is free of snow and ice.

Have an emergency supply kit in the vehicle's trunk, that contains a 3-day supply of water, flash lights, extra batteries, candles and matches, non-perishable foods, blankets, a change of clothes, keys, and money.
