Light Rain Falls Across Very Dry Upper Michigan

Upper Michigan has been very dry, especially the west and central portions. Wildfires broke out across western and central Upper Michigan, with the largest fires in Marquette and Baraga Counties. Light to moderate rain fell over the area today with most locations receiving around 0.1 inches (radar estimate) of rain.  A couple stronger thunderstorms dropped between 0.25 and 1 inch (radar estimate) of rain from Amasa northeast through the city of Marquette. The rain, lighter winds, and higher humidity may help assist the firefighters in suppressing the fires. is the U.S. government's official web portal to all federal, state and local government web resources and services.
