Seeks Students for Summer Volunteer Internship
 
Description: The National Weather Service in Aberdeen South Dakota is seeking highly motivated students that desire to learn more about the operations in a local National Weather Service Office. During this internship, students will learn many aspects of the day-to-day operations of the office, including warning operations and forecast creation.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in office research and outreach. This will give students the opportunity to determine whether a career with the National Weather Service may be right for them.
Length of Internship:  Averages two days per week (~10-15 hours) starting in the end of May and continuing through early August. This is an unpaid internship.
Eligibility: Ideal for students pursuing a degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, hydrology, physics, or other environmental science fields in their first 1-3 years of college. Exceptional high school students in their junior/senior years may be considered as well. 
What we need from you:  Please send a resume that includes the coursework you have completed and any related experience.  A cover letter and reference are optional – but strongly encouraged! 
Deadline:  Tuesday, April 15, 2014
How you will be chosen:  Applicants will be selected based on a combination of resume, coursework, references, cover letter and a potential phone interview.
