Latest Flood Information on the Missouri River in South Dakota

Releases from the Missouri River reservoirs will reach historic levels in the coming weeks, the result of above-normal snow in the mountains and extraordinary rain over the last several weeks.  Significant flooding in cities, towns and agricultural land is expected in North and South Dakota.

The high releases from Garrison Dam and Oahe Dam are expected to be maintained through June. Melt water from the above average snowfall over the Missouri headwaters is expected to keep river levels high in these river basins through June and possibly into July.
