Traverse Co. Tornado 7.30.2011

FINAL DAMAGE SURVEY RESULTS FROM TRAINED SPOTTERS AND EYE WITNESS ACCOUNTS DURING THE EVENING OF JULY 30TH CONFIRM ONE BRIEF TORNADO TOUCHDOWN IN FAR SOUTHEAST TRAVERSE COUNTY NEAR THE TOWN OF COLLIS.

 THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN A CORN FIELD NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF TRAVERSE COUNTY ROAD 4 AND 710TH AVENUE. SPOTTER AND EYE WITNESS ACCOUNTS INDICATE THAT THE TORNADO FORMED AROUND 7:11 PM CDT. THE TORNADO CONTINUED TO MOVE TO THE SOUTHEAST...REMAINING ON THE GROUND FOR A QUARTER MILE. THE TORNADO LIFTED BACK INTO THE PARENT STORM AROUND 7:18 PM CDT. CORN STALK DAMAGE...ALONG WITH TREE DAMAGE DONE TO A SMALL TREE GROVE ALONG THE PATH OF THE TORNADO...ARE CONSISTENT WITH AN EF-0 TORNADO RATING...WITH WIND SPEEDS ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND 70 MPH. NO KNOWN STRUCTURES OR DWELLINGS WERE AFFECTED BY THIS TORNADO.
