Significant rainfall fell over much of central and northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota from April 12th through April 16th (see image below). The highest totals were generally found over the Sisseton Hills/Glacial Lakes area of northeastern South Dakota, where 4" to 5"+ of rainfall has been reported. Generally 1-3" of rain fell from the Missouri River to the James River Valley - with the lightest amounts across far northwestern South Dakota. This was the heaviest amount of precipitation since the "Leap Year Blizzard" on 28-29 February 2012.
