Heavy rainfall across Northeastern Brown, Marshall and Roberts county last night
The storms last night that moved across sections of northeast South Dakota produced very heavy rainfall…with measured reports from 3 to 6 inches of rainfall received. The heavy rain resulted in flash flooding in the Hecla, Claremont and Veblen areas. Several county roads had water flowing over them, with a lot of standing water seen in the fields as well. The image below shows where the Aberdeen NWS Doppler radar estimates the heaviest rain fell. There most likely were instances where the rain fell so hard, so quickly that the radar is underestimating the rainfall.
The unsettled weather pattern is expected to remain in place through the weekend…meaning that there are more chances for severe weather and heavy rainfall through Saturday night.
