Moderate to High Risk of Rip Currents Through the Night

Gusty southwest winds throughout the night will result in a moderate to high risk for rip currents on the beaches of Lake Michigan, primarily at the beaches of Macinac County, along US-2 west of the Mackinac Bridge.

What can you do to be prepared?

  • Take the threat of rip currents very seriously. Of all 5 Great Lakes, the most rip current-related fatalities occur in Lake Michigan.
  • Review and Know Rip Current Safety
  • Always have a flotation device with you in the water
  • Stay away from water around breakwaters and jetties where rip currents are most likely to develop
