Summer 2011 Review...One of the Warmest

Persistent above normal temperatures, capped by a very warm July, led to one of the warmest summer's on record for northern Michigan, as shown by the rankings below.  Interestingly, despite the persistent warmth, few daily high temperature records were set.

Per the usual for summer, rainfall amounts were highly variable across the area.  In general, the heaviest amounts occurred over the north half of the area, where both Sault Ste. Marie and Alpena recorded a top 20 wettest summer.
