What a Start to May! Records Tied or Broken in Spots Wednesday

After such a cold March and April across northern Michigan, what a treat is was to have temperatures soar well into the 70s and 80s across much of the area for the start of May on Wednesday. The warmest readings through the day were found across mainly northern lower Michigan, while places north of the Straits found their winds coming from a northerly direction behind a cold front, helping keep readings cooler.

Normal high temperatures this time of year generally range through the lower 60s, so Wednesday's highs were in many areas 20 degrees above normal. In addition, this marked the first time that many spots have hit the 80 degree mark so far this spring season. Typically speaking, most areas do not hit their first 80 degree reading until the 2nd week of May.

Below is a look at highs recorded on Wednesday, along with the records for the date and the normal high.
