Northern Michigan Christmas Climatology

 Northern Michigan Christmas Climatology

With the Christmas season here, it is always interesting to take a look back at some of the extremes that have occurred on December 25th over the last 100+ years across northern Michigan. Below is a look at the warmest, coldest, wettest, and snowiest Christmas Days recorded for various cities throughout the region. As you can see, there is quite a bit of variability in the data, indicative of just how changeable winters can be, even at this time of year. Particularly notice the very warm Christmas day that occurred back in 1982, when highs warmed well into the 50s and 60s throughout the region.

Forecast for this year: Seasonably cold with some light snow, just in time for Christmas morning. Highs mainly in the 20s, with lows in the teens.
