A warm front lifted north across the area this morning...before becoming centered over the Straits of Mackinac. Moisture associated with this system was able to generate widespread convection across Northern Michigan today. The thunderstorms produced hail between one quarter and three quarters inch with wind gusts to 40 mph. However a bigger part of the thunderstorms today, was the amount of heavy rainfall. Below are some of the highest rainfall totals so far today.
