June 2012 Review...A Warm and Wet Month

The above normal warmth theme continued unabated through June, with all locations coming in several degrees above normal, and a few reporting one of their top ten warmest June's on record. Despite persistently warm temperatures, few daily high temperature records were set.

Like temperatures, rainfall averaged above normal, at least for most.  Some areas down near Saginaw Bay did receive less than normal precipitation (see map below).  The vast majority of the rain fell during the first 20 days of the month, with conditions steadily drying out thereafter.  Although a few severe weather events occurred, the multi-year trend of generally benign weather continued.
