Did you hear that the Northern Lights will be out tonight? If so there is a chance that you could see them in northern lower Michigan. The chances are fair that people will be able to see them tonight.
Looking at the Space Weather Prediction Center's Ovation Auroral Forecast page, at 10 pm, the aurora hadn't reached Michigan yet. Extrapolating the information, the northern lights probably would not start until after midnight in northern lower Michigan. This is good, since the sky will be a little clearer, the longer we wait. Just from the cloud forecast, it looks like the best places to see the aurora, will be in northwest lower Michigan, from about Traverse City and Cadillac and areas to the west, especially along the Lake Michigan shore.
