July 16th 2008 was significant in the La Crosse area for two reasons.
The first, was the first 90 degree day of the spring/summer. Typically, we should have experienced seven or eight 90 degree days by now, but with the cool, wet summer in progress, the summertime heat has been slow to arrive. The temperature reached 90 degrees at 215 PM.
The second, was the late afternoon/early evening deluge which brought a quick 2.50 inches of rainfall to the airport with localized flooding, mainly for streets and poorly drained areas. This amount of rain breaks the daily record for July 16th quite handily.
