First Tornado in Crawford County Since 1987: EF-1, 4 mile path length

During the morning of July 28th, the La Crosse National Weather Service survey team confirmed that a tornado did touch down in north central Crawford County during the late afternoon of July 27th.  This team determined that this tornado initially touched down at 5:16 PM CDT one mile east of Fairview and then moved northeast approximately 4 miles before dissipating around 5:26 PM CDT five miles west of Soldiers Grove.  This tornado was rated an EF-1 (estimated wind speeds 86 to 110 mph).  However during much of its track, the damage was rated EF-0 (estimated wind speeds 65 to 85 mph).  This was the first confirmed tornado in Crawford County since June 17, 1987.  More details and photos will follow when the survey team returns.
