A recent satellite image from the Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) at the University of Wisconsin shows how the recent snowfall from Wednesday, November 9th fell in the higher terrain of southwest Wisconsin, far southeast Minnesota and far northeast Iowa. Below is a MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) satellite image from the SSEC taken on Friday, November 11th, 2011. Some of the softer white colors are from some leftover high level clouds that came through. The remaining snow can still be seen in the higher elevations on this image with the Mississippi River running through the middle of the picture and the Wisconsin River feeding in from the east across southwest Wisconsin. Lower elevations only saw an inch or less from this snow storm, while the higher elevations had 2 to 6 inches fall.
