Probability Of Precipitation Type - experimental product depicting what precipitation types are more likely.
As we head into late Fall and Winter, precipitation can come in various forms: rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow. Forecasting precipitation type can be difficult as it depends on a number of factors.
To show our confidence in the precipitation type(s) we expect to occur, the NWS in La Crosse produces an experimental text product containing probabilities of each precipitation type.
