NOAA Weather Radio at La Crosse, WI (WXJ86) Upgrade for June 12th

The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter serving La Crosse, WI (WXJ86 at 162.550 MHz) is being upgraded.  Once weather clears the area today, the transmitter may be off line for a time to install a new antenna.

The transmitter in the Winona, MN area (KGG95 at 162.425 MHz) will remain on the air and can be used as a backup for La Crosse area residents until the regular service is restored.

This upgrade is part of a transmitter replacement for the La Crosse/La Crescent NOAA weather radio site (WXJ86) which originally began broadcasting back in the 1970s.
