Record Cold Temperatures from July 26th to July 29th

A strong Canadian cold front moved through the region on Friday.  This front brought record and near record cold to the Upper Mississippi River Valley.  Record cold high temperatures and record low temperatures were set across the region from Friday into Monday morning.  Here is a listing of the records set or tied from July 26th through July 29th.

Other Cold Tidbits...

  • Owen WI had their 3rd Coldest July high temperature (55F) on July 27th.  The only days which were colder were July 1 1959 (53F) and July 5 1967 (53F).
  • La Crosse WI tied July 20 1912, July 6 1920, and July 4 1967 for their 2nd coldest July (62F) high temperature on July 27th.  The only July day which had a colder high temperature was July 3 1962 when the high temperature was just 61 degrees.
  • La Crosse WI had an average temperature of 56.5 degrees on July 27th.  This was second coldest for July.  The only other day which was colder was July 4 1967 when the average temperature was 53 degrees.
  • Rochester MN had a low temperature of 46 degrees on July 28th.  This was the coldest July temperature since July 7 1997.
