2013 Autumn Climate Statistics

     2013 Astronomical Autumn Summaries for 
La Crosse Wisconsin and Rochester Minnesota

La Crosse Wisconsin:
Temperatures were colder than normal during the astronomical autumn.
Temperatures averaged 39.3 degrees at La Crosse Regional Airport. This was 0.9
degrees colder than the 1981- 2010 normal of 40.2 degrees. It was the coldest
autumn since 2008  when the temperature averaged 30.7 degrees. The average
high temperature was 48.5 degrees at La Crosse Regional Airport. This was 0.4 
degrees warmer than the 1981-2010 normal of 48.9 degrees. The average low
temperature at the airport was 30.2 degrees. The reading was 1.4 degrees 
colder than the 1981-2010 normal of 31.6 degrees.  The warmest temperature 
was 84 degrees on September 27th.  The coldest temperature was -3 degrees
on December 9th and December 11th. The period was slightly wetter than 
normal.  6.98 inches of precipitation fell at La Crosse Regional Airport. 
This was 0.86 inches wetter than the 1981-2010 normal of 6.12 inches. The wettest 
day was 1.47 inches on October 4th. Snowfall was below normal during the 
astronomical autumn, only 6.5 inches of snow fell at La Crosse Regional Airport. 
This was 5.6 inches below the 1981-2010 normal of 12.1 inches.  The snowiest 
day was 2.0 inches on December 8th.

Rochester Minnesota:
Temperatures were colder than normal during the astronomical autumn. Readings 
averaged 36.2 degrees at Rochester International Airport. This was 2.1 degrees 
colder than the 1981-2010 normal of 38.3 degrees. This was the coldest autumn 
since 2002 with 26.8 degrees.  The average high temperature was 45.0 degrees.
This was 2.0 degrees colder than the 1981-2010 normal of 47.0 degrees.
The average low temperature was 27.3 degrees. This was 2.2 degrees colder 
than the 1981- 2010 normal of 29.5 degrees.  The warmest temperature was 83 
degrees on September 27th.  The coldest temperature was -8 degrees on December 
11th.  Precipitation was slightly below normal during the period.  5.87 inches of
precipitation fell. This was 0.12 inches drier than the 1981-2010 normal of 5.99 
inches.  The wettest day saw 0.98 inches of precipitation on November 5th. 
Snowfall was below normal with only 6.6 inches of snow.  This was 8.7 inches
below the 1981-2010 normal of 15.3 inches.  The snowiest day was 2.1 inches 
on December 8th
