Near Record Number of Measurable Snowfall Days in December at La Crosse

If you thought that it seemed like it was snowing almost all of the time during December of 2013, you would be correct.  La Crosse finished in the top 3 (tied with 1978 and 1996) for the number of measurable snow days in December (0.1" or greater) since records began in 1872.   Only 2000 and 2008 had more measurable snow days, both with 15.  While there was an unusual number of days with measurable snow, La Crosse only received 1.3 inches above their 1981-2010 normal of 11.3 inches.

There were 16 days with measurable precipitation (rain or melted snow of 0.01" or more) in December of 2013 at La Crosse. This tied 2008 for the most days in a December at La Crosse with measurable precipitation.
