All remaining skywarn canceled - except for Williston

Other than the Williston training (see below) no new skywarn sessions will be scheduled this spring. This is due to NWS resources being needed to provide weather and water decision support services to North Dakota and local officials for the ongoing flood fight. The Williston training will be done by staff from the Williston weather office.

Here is the latest schedule for severe weather safety training (SKYWARNTM) for the NWS Bismarck County Warning Area (west and central North Dakota). The training is free, the public is invited and encouraged to attend, and there is no need to register. Sessions last about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Topics covered include:  thunderstorm formation, structure, and strength;  thunderstorm hazards like wind, hail, flash floods, tornadoes, and lightning;  the importance of weather reports and how to get them to the NWS;  and your safety.

To report any type of severe weather, call the NWS in Bismarck at 701-223-4582.
