February Thaw Not Expected to Cause River Flooding

...FEBRUARY THAW NOT EXPECTED TO CAUSE RIVER FLOODING...

THE CURRENT MILD SPELL WILL CAUSE MINOR MELTING AND COMPACTION OF THE
SNOWPACK OVER WESTERN AND CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA. SIGNIFICANT
MELTING IN RURAL AREAS IS NOT EXPECTED...AND RUNOFF INTO RIVERS
AND CREEKS SHOULD BE MINIMAL. THE EXCEPTION MAY BE IN EXTREME
SOUTHWESTERN NORTH DAKOTA...WHERE LESSER SNOWPACK AND STEEPER TERRAIN
COULD LEAD TO SOME SURFACE RUNOFF EARLY NEXT WEEK. THAT SAID...RIVER
AND STREAM RISES HIGH ENOUGH TO BREAK UP ICE ARE NOT EXPECTED.

ALONG CITY STREETS...WHERE SNOW BANKS AND ICE ARE BLOCKING STORM
DRAINS...PONDING OF WATER WILL OCCUR.
