Moderate to Heavy Rain Possible Sunday Afternoon into Monday

A storm system is forecast to impact western and central North Dakota Sunday afternoon into Monday. Moderate to heavy rainfall may be possible with this system as it draws an abundant amount of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico into the Northern Plains. Shown below is the 48 hour rainfall forecast from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (HPC). Widespread 1.00 to 1.25 inches of rain is possible along and east of the Highway 83 corridor from Sunday afternoon into Monday. While not as likely, due to the large moisture amounts with this system, isolated amounts of 1.50 to 2.00 inches cannot be ruled out. Some uncertainty does remain in the forecast track, which will have an impact on what areas receive the highest rainfall amounts.
