Morton County Tornado from July 9, 2013

A supercell thunderstorm produced a brief EF0 tornado north of Sweet Briar Lake in Morton county on July 9, 2013.  The tornado damaged or destroyed three barns and destroyed two grain bins at a farmstead.

  • Peak Wind (estimated):  80 mph
  • Path Length (estimated):  2 miles
  • Path Width (estimated):  50 yards
  • Start / End Times (estimated):  354 PM CDT to 357 PM CDT
  • Event Location (estimated):  5.5 miles north of Judson to 4.5 miles north/northeast of Judson

  • EF0....Wind Speeds 65 to 85 mph
  • EF1...Wind Speeds 86 to 110 mph

  • EF4...Wind Speeds 166 to 200 mph
  • EF5...Wind Speeds greater than 200 mph
