The darkest days of winter are over! Have you noticed?

Literally, the darkest days of winter are over!

Have you noticed the increasing amount of daylight since late December?

During late December there were several days at Bismarck where the total amount of daylight was just 8 hours 32 minutes. Sunrise was just before 830 AM and sunset was before 500 PM. The amount of daylight has been increasing since then.

By Wednesday, January 15, there will be 8 hours 59 minutes of daylight. Sunrise will be 823 AM and sunset 522 PM.

By January 31 it will be 9 hours 36 minutes of daylight with sunrise at 809 AM and sunset not until 545 PM.

Literally, the darkest days of winter are over, for this season anyway.
