Lightning and Wildfire Preparedness Week

Today...Sunday June 18th...is the beginning of "Lightning and Wildfire Preparedness Week".  The week is designed to help the public understand the dangers of lightning and what to do if lightning is near you.  It also makes you aware of the current wildfire danger that we now live in.  Dry weather along with windy conditions make for a great environment for wildfires.  And once they start, our "FIRE FIGHTERS" have a tough time containing these fires.  Loss of property and also the loss of life becomes a reality.  Subjects discussed this week will be broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio each day Sunday through Saturday at 6AM and again at 4PM.  The same subjects are also located on our webpage under "About Lightning".

The Lightning and Wildfire subjects are:

Sunday...Introduction  to LIghtning and Wildfire Preparedness

              Monday...Lightning Overview

              Tuesday...Science of LIghtning

              Wednesday...Lightning Safety Outside

              Thursday...Lightning Safety Inside

              Friday...Medical Issues

              Saturday...Lightning and Wildfires
