Area Weather History for June 11-17

Jun 11: On this day in 1947 an unusually cold late season storm system brought

significant snow to Cheyenne. By the end of the day 4.4 inches of snow had

fallen, and the snow continued into the 12^th.

Jun 12: Another 4.3 inches of snow fell in Cheyenneon this day in 1947 bringing

the total snowfall to 8.7 inches, the most snow ever recorded in Cheyenne

during the month of June. It is also the latest measurable snow on record for

Cheyenne.

On this day in 1994 a microburst created very high winds in Cheyenne. A gust

of 84 mph was recorded at the airport, with estimated gusts around 100 mph over

the northeast part of Cheyenne. The high winds caused major damage to the roof

at Central High School.

Jun 13: On this day in 1984, a severe thunderstorm tracked across parts of northeast

Converse and northern Niobrara counties and produced baseball sized hail (2.75”)

along much of its track.

Jun 14:.On this day in 1969, Scottsbluff recorded its latest freeze, and lowest June temperature,

on record with a low of 30 degrees. 2.28 inches of rain also fell in Scottsbluff on

this day in 1982.

On this day in 1926, Cheyenne was inundated with 3.06 inches of rain, the all-time

record for the highest daily rainfall in June. It was one of only 4 times on record

that Cheyenne has seen 3 inches or more precipitation in a day.

Jun 15: On this day in 1967, Scottsbluff recorded the last of 11 consecutive days with

measurable precipitation, the city’s longest streak on record.

Jun 16: On this day in 1921 Chadron, Nebraska, recorded its greatest daily rain for June

with 3.57 inches. Also on this day in 1911, Scottsbluffreceived a generous 2.33

inches of rain.

Jun 17: On this day in 1998, a freak snowstorm dropped up to 8 inches of snow over the

Snowy Range. The snow stranded travelers on the Snowy range pass and required

plows to assist them in getting out.

On this day in 1898, Scottsbluff recorded its warmest daily low temperature on

record when the temperature only fell to 76 degrees.
