Record warmth across the area May 22nd

Dry westerly winds blowing downslope along with some sunshine combined to produce record warmth across much of the lower elevations of southeast Wyoming into the Nebraska Panhandle for the 22nd of May.  Chadron, Alliance and Sidney in the Nebraska Panhandle even attained new all-time record highs for the month of May.  The following table summarizes the record highs for locations across the area:

While the 100 degree high for Scottsbluff on the 22nd was not a record high for the month of May, it becomes the earliest date on record that Scottsbluff reached 100 degrees.  The previous earliest 100 degree date was May 28th, 1934.
