July 16: On this day in 1994 a severe thunderstorm produced hail from 1 to 1.75 inches
                in diameter in Laramie.

                The strongest and most destructive tornado known in Wyoming history struck
                Cheyenne on this day in 1979.  The tornado initially touched down just northwest
                of the airport and proceeded to move east over residential areas along Buffalo Ridge.

                One person was killed while 57 others were injured.  Approximately 140 homes
                were destroyed along with Buffalo Ridge elementary school while about 200
                homes were damaged.  Damages estimates were estimated to be about 20 million.

                Today is on average the warmest day of the year for much of the area including
                Cheyenne, Scottsbluff, Chadron, Laramie and Rawlins.

July 17: On this day in 1995, a severe thunderstorm produced hail up to 3 inches in diameter
                near Horse Creek, WY.  The hail accumulated from 6 to 8 inches deep in some areas. 

July 18:  A thunderstorm moved across Scottsbluff on this day in 1957 and produced
                2.16 inches of rain there.

July 19:  It was a very hot day in Alliance on this date in 1983, with a high of 110 degrees
                recorded. 

                Very heavy rains fell over parts of southeast Wyoming on this day in 1973.
                Cheyenne was soaked with 3.41 inches of rain, which was one of only four times
                in which over 3 inches of rain has fallen in Cheyenne in a day.  Douglas received
                3.27 inches of rain.

July 20:  Very hot temperatures gripped the region on this day in 1939, with highs over 100
                degrees recorded across much of the Nebraska panhandle.  Specific highs included
                108 degrees at both Scottsbluff and Alliance, 107 degrees near Sidney, and 105 at
                Bridgeport. 

July 21:  On this day in 2003 Cheyenne recorded the last of 10 consecutive days with a high
                temperature of at least 90 degrees, Cheyenne’s longest 90 degree streak on record.

                On this day in 1992 a severe thunderstorm produced winds estimated to be around
                85 mph in Lingle which resulted in extensive damage to houses and businesses.

 July 22: On this day in 1982 Laramie equaled its warmest temperature on record when the
                temperatures topped out at 94 degrees.  The other 94 degree days in Laramie
                occurred on August 5, 1979 and June 23, 1954.
