Dodge City Snowfall for March 27-28

The Dodge City Regional Airport received a total of 12.6 inches of snow from the blizzard that moved through the area on March 27th and March 28th.  Most of the snow fell on the 27th with the airport picking up 12 inches.  With an additional 0.6 inches on the 28th, the total for the 2008-09 season was 15.8 inches as of March 30th.  This was 3.8 inches below normal.  The blizzard established the 3rd highest 24 hour snowfall for the month of March and 6th all-time with 12.5 inches.  The all-time record is 17.5 inches on March 9th and 10th in 1922.   March 27, 2009 was the 3rd highest calendar day total for March.  The highest was 13.3 inches in 1924 on March 16th.
