April 2010 Weather Summary for Dodge City

Temperatures were above normal for the month of April at the Dodge City Regional Airport.  The average temperature was 56.4 degrees and that was 2.5 degrees above normal.  The average high was 69.9 degrees and the average low was 42.8.  The highest temperature was 88 degrees on both the 5th and 29th.  The lowest temperature was 27 on the 3rd, which was the last hard freeze for Dodge City.  No records were set during the month.

The total precipitation for the month was 1.04 inches and that was 1.21 inches below normal.  The highest 24 hour total was 0.40 inches on the 16th.  The total precipitation from January 1st to April 30th was 3.56 inches, which was 1.81 inches below normal.  No snow fell during the month.  The total snowfall for the 2009-2010 season ended up with 19.7 inches, which was 1.9 inches below normal.

April 2010 was a little windier than March with an average speed of 14.7 mph.  The highest wind gust was 54 mph from the south which occurred on the 13th.  Three other days had at least a gust to 50 mph.
