October 2010 Weather Summary for Dodge City

October 2010 at the Dodge City Regional Airport was the 12th warmest October on record with an average of 60.3 degrees, which was 3.2 degrees above normal.  The warmest October was 66.5 degrees in 1963.  The average high for October 2010 was 75.7 degrees and the average low was 44.8.  The highest temperature was 90 degrees on the 7th and the lowest was 32 on the 28th.  No records were set during the month.

A total of 1.12 inches of precipitation fell during the month, which was 0.33 inches below normal.  The highest 24 hour amount was 0.97 inches on the 21st and 22nd.  The total precipitation for the year was 23.64 inches, which was 3.07 inches above normal.  Dodge City has now fallen behind last year's pace, which was 24.48 inches at the end of October.

The average wind speed for October 2010 was 11.4 mph.  The highest wind gust was 55 mph from the southwest on the afternoon of the 21st from a thunderstorm that moved through Dodge City.
