Addition of Tag Line on Tornado Warnings

On 1 April 2011, WFO Dodge City and other National Weather Service Offices serving the state of Kansas will begin appending a new tag line at the bottom of tornado warnings and follow-up severe weather statements. This line will provide the maximum hail size expected with the thunderstorm for which the warning was issued. Having a coded line at the bottom of the messages will make it easier for everyone to quickly assess the hail threat with the tornadic thunderstorm.

Inclusion of this tag line is an experiment that will be evaluated from 1 April 2011 through 1 February 2012. During this period, we encourage comments or suggestions for improvement using the electronic survey provided at the link below. Your feedback will help us determine product usefulness and whether modifications are needed. Based on feedback, a decision will follow on whether or not this will become a permanent addition to the warning format. Additional information about the format change and access to the customer feedback survey are provided below.
