March 2011 Weather Summary for Dodge City

March 2011 was below normal for precipitation at the Dodge City Regional Airport.  Only 0.73 inches of precipitation fell, which was 1.11 inches below normal.  The greatest 24 hour amount was 0.38 inches on the 7th and 8th.  Since January 1st, 1.33 inches of precipitation was recorded through the end of March.  That was 1.79 inches below normal.  There was also very little snowfall during the month.  A total of 0.6 inches of snow fell, which was 4.5 inches below normal.  All of that fell on the 8th.  So far for the 2010-11 season there has only been 12.0 inches of snow, which was 8.6 inches below normal. 

Temperatures were normal for March with an average of 44.3 degrees.  The average high temperature was 57.3 degrees and the average low was 31.3.  The highest temperature was 83 degrees on the 20th and the lowest was 17 on the 5th.  No records were set during the month.

The average wind speed was 12.3 mph.  The highest wind gust was 48 mph from the northwest on the 22nd.
