All Time Record High Tied in Dodge City on 26 June

The temperature soared to 110 degrees at the Dodge City Airport late Sunday afternoon. This tied the highest observed temperature at the Dodge City Airport since official weather observations began back in November 1874. The temperature also reached 110 degrees on 29 June, 1998. Very dry air moved into southwest Kansas Sunday afternoon, and the relative humidity at the hottest time of the day was less than 7%!

The 110 degree high established a record for 26 June, breaking the previous record of 108 established in 1998.

Other record highs established on 26 June included 108 in Garden City, breaking the old record of 106 established in 1998 and 111 in Medicine Lodge, breaking the old record of 106 established in 1918.

Among the cooperative obseration sites, Ashland established a record high temperature of 114 degrees, breaking the record of 112 set in 1994. The 114 degree reading ties the all time record in Ashland. Offical records for Ashland date back to 1900. Greensburg reached a high of 110 degrees, breaking the old record of 106 established in 1936.
