October 2011 Weather Summary for Dodge City

Temperatures were above normal at the Dodge City Regional Airport for October 2011.  The average temperature was 58.2 degrees which was 1.6 degrees above normal.  The average high was 72.7 degrees and the average low was 43.6.  The warmest temperature was 95 degrees on the 3rd and the coldest was 30 degrees on the 27th.  Only one record was set during the month and that was a low of 68 degrees on the 7th.  That was the highest minimum temperature for that date. 

The total precipitation for October 2011 was 1.13 inches which was 0.61 inches below normal.  From January 1st through October 31st the total precipitation was 6.27 inches which was 13.73 inches below normal.  This is the driest January through October period on record.  The second driest January through October period is 1991 with 9.10 inches.  The highest 24 hour amount was 0.76 inches on the 8th and 9th.  No snow fell during the month.

The average wind speed for October was 13.8 mph.  The highest wind gust was 55 mph from the south on the 6th.
