November 2011 Weather Summary for Dodge City

Precipitation for November 2011 was well above normal at the Dodge City Regional Airport.  The total for the month was 1.90 inches which was 1.14 inches above normal.  The last time Dodge City was above normal for a month was November 2010.  You have to go back to August 2010 when we had at least 1.90 inches in a month.  The highest 24 hour amount was one inch on the 25th and 26th.  January 2011 to November 2011 is the driest January through November period on record.  The total through November 30th was 8.17 inches which was 12.59 inches below normal.  The second driest was in 1956 with 9.97 inches.  Only a trace of precipitation fell in December 1956 which ended with 1956 being the driest year on record.  The total snowfall for November 2011 was 0.7 inches which was 1.1 inches below normal.  The highest 24 hour amount was 0.4 inches on the 2nd.

Temperatures were only slightly above normal for the month.  The average was 43.3 degrees which was 0.2 degrees above normal.  The average high temperature was 56 degrees and the average low was 30.6.  The highest temperature was 73 degrees on the 12th and the lowest was 18 on the 20th.  No records were set during the month.

The average wind speed was 13.7 mph.  The highest wind gust was 55 mph from the north on the 26th.
