January 2012 Weather Summary for Dodge City

Temperatures were well above normal at the Dodge City Regional Airport for January 2012.  The average temperature was 36.5 degrees, which was 4.3 degrees above normal.  This month was tied for the 17th warmest January on record with 1908.  The warmest January was 42.9 in 2006.  The average high temperature was 49.7 degrees and the average low was 23.2.  The highest temperature was 66 degrees on the 5th and the lowest was 12 degrees on the 21st.  No records were set during the month. 

The total precipitation was only 0.07 inches, which was tied for the 22nd driest January on record.  All of that rain fell on the 22nd.  The total for the month was 0.51 inches below normal.  No snow was recorded during the month.  The total snowfall for the 2011-12 season was 6.5 inches, which was 4.7 inches below normal. 

The average wind speed for January 2012 was 12.3 mph.  The highest wind gust was 54 mph from the north on the 11th.
