FEMA Activates Wireless Emergency Alerts on 28 June

At 100 PM CDT on 28 June, most warnings for critical meteorological phenomena will generate wireless emergency alerts (WEA) on telephones equipped with firmware to accommodate the WEA functionality. Only a few late model telephones will respond to WEA issuance. The following events in the central plains will trigger WEA messages:

Tornado Warnings

Flash Flood Warnings

Blizzard Warnings

Ice Storm Warnings

Dust Storm Warnings.

Additonal information about the WEA program is available here.
